Enjoying music in the shower isn’t really new. People have been doing that since time immemorial, but we do sometimes underestimate what technology can do to this otherwise normal thing and how it can be taken up a notch.
Like this Kohler Moxie Showerhead, a showerhead built with Bluetooth tech in it. In the smart age, this is how you listen to your jams in the shower. But this activity can still be leveled up.
Kohler Moxie Showerhead: The Next Level
Kohler is fixing up this line in 2020 with the inclusion of a new showerhead with built-in audio from Harman Kardon. There are a variety of choices here because one version is simply not enough. You can get a $99 speaker as a stand-alone unit, not a showerhead. It’s waterproof and tuned by Harman Kardon to minimize the noise of water.
Buy on AmazonThe speaker uses Bluetooth and has a different app from the Kohler Konnect app to set your music preferences. Kohler estimates the battery life to be between 6 and 7 hours at 70% volume and charges with a cordless charging dock.
Spend a little more, and you’re going to get the same speaker with Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant inside for $159. This adds voice commands and connectivity to the rest of the Kohler Konnect voice-controlled products. Both stand-alone speakers come with an extension stand. Speaker pairing is also an option if you have a wide bathroom or use these speakers in other areas of your house.
The showerhead option uses a magnetic docking mechanism to keep the speaker right in the middle, costing $169 for the Bluetooth model and $229 for the inclusion of Alexa.
Shower with Alexa?
The Alexa-compatible A.I. Speaker pairs the Kohler’s Konnect mobile app to set up and control play modes and other audio settings. If you’ve linked the speaker to your Alexa app, you can use it as an Echo or Echo Dot.
You can use Alexa voice commands to inquire about news, weather, sports scores, your schedule, or even to chat or use some other Alexa Skill that you have downloaded. You can control Alexa’s installed, all hands-free, smart home devices with voice commands. However, unlike the Dot, the Kohler A.I. speaker is ready to howl in the bathroom with your favorite songs.
