Moorebot, the manufacturer of robot apps including the Hubble Hugo Baby Cam and the Zeus fighting robot, has launched its new “Scout” robot. According to the company, the Moorebot Scout is an autonomous AI robot that helps you to track, discover and explore the world around you.View Details
Design and Features
The Scout consists of a 1080p camera with night vision and two-way audio support built on a wheeled frame measuring just 2.8 x 4 x 4.3 inches. Its compact size should make it possible to roll into the tightest spaces. Perhaps more intriguing: the camera’s integrated artificial intelligence makes it autonomous—it can function without human influence.
The unique gadget is operated by a 1.2GHz quad-core ARM CPU, 1GB of DDR III memory, 4GB of flash memory, a dual-band Wi-Fi adapter, a set of sensors, and a SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) algorithm for navigation. Scout will patrol the interior of your house, film video clips in response to sound or activity in the vicinity of your home. You can store video on board, transfer it to the cloud, or stream it to a smart monitor.
Moorebot’s features include smart home connectivity with either Alexa or Google Home, monocular SLAM, and audio and visual intelligence that enables Scout to identify, monitor and communicate with individuals and pets.
Scout can be used for remote observation and companionship with pets. Do you care about the well-being of your pet when you’re away from home? Scout is there to help you watch it, and the two-way audio feature lets you listen and even talk to your pet.
Owing to its compact size, Scout can be used to track home, office, or company individually, under furniture, and in areas that are difficult to access.
For professionals and businesses, Scout may carry out inspections in locations that are difficult to access. Equipped with a 1080P FHD camera and night vision, you can remotely direct Scout to almost any area of your home, office, or building.
Scout will always make his way back to his cradle to get ready for the next assignment. In full-operating mode, Scout’s batteries will last just over two hours between recharges.
The modular design enables users, children, and adults – with no programming experience – to create their own unique apps. Using Scratch, a block-based visual programming language, you can quickly build new features.
Scout also offers open-source code that allows programmers to create and incorporate more complex AI features. It is also possible to design and print 3D extension tools that can be attached to Scout, ranging from robot arms, UV germ killer, pet treat dispenser, and several more.
Privacy is provided through “highly secure internet communication” using the Peer-to-Peer protocol of TUTK, which is known to be one of the most secure video streaming platforms. You may add more privacy options, such as blindfolding the Scout camera when charging.
Scout will be available for sale for $179 on the Amazon and Moorebot websites in March or April 2021.
